The CSUMB Disc Golf Club would like to recognize Tim Bills and Rick Dawson of Student Activities & Leadership Development for approaching the club with an offer to help support the development of our courses for the 2011 Pro Disc Golf World Championships in August.
The day prior, junior Brandon White finished in a tie for 10th place in the individual medal play out of 152 students. White also won the inaugural National Collegiate Putting Championship, one of many skills competitions held during the week.
The first four concrete tee pads have appeared on Cypress on the Stancil Courses at Cal State Monterey Bay.
A projected 27 will be available in time for the August tournament, when the 2011 Pro Disc Golf World Championships begins on the Monterey Bay. Cypress and Oaks will be combined as one course and used as one of the four championship courses during the tournament.
They enter the 36-team tournament ranked #9 in the nation. Other West Coast schools ranked are the University of Oregon (#2), UC Santa Cruz (#16), San Diego State (#20), California Baptist (#23), Pasadena City College (#30), and the University of the Pacific (#41).
