2011 Pro Disc Golf World Championships
In preparation for the event, the Disc Golf Club is working with Campus Planning to build out 27 circular concrete tee pads on Oaks and part of Cypress. These will elevate our courses to a championship level that should attract more top flight tournaments of this caliber and further expose our university to the disc golf world and beyond.
Other courses include:
- Ryan Ranch (Monterey). Maintained by the Stinging Jellies Disc Golf Club and located just off Highway 68, this course will present a huge challenge to the pros.
- Pinto Lake (Watsonville). The new kid on the the block, it was design by the tournaments executive director and seeks to be the next world-class course.
- DeLaveaga (Santa Cruz). Long considered the jewel of disc golf courses world wide, this championship course is no stranger to this level of play.
The events start the week of August 7th, culminating with the Finals at Pinto Lake on Saturday, August 13, 2011. Actual play at CSUMB will begin on Tuesday, August 9, and end on Friday, August 12.
The event will attract 432 competitors from around the world, with 200 volunteers and course marshals plus a staff of 35.
